First Look: 2021 Rookie Rankings

In this article, I take an early look at the 2021 rookies.  Not every player listed has officially declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, but each player listed is eligible in 2021.  Given the unprecedented circumstances of the forthcoming college football season, some of these players have already opted-out, and are beginning to prepare for the 2o21 NFL Draft.  Meanwhile, some players have had their seasons cancelled, or postponed as of the time of this writing.  And of course some players intend to play out the scheduled season.  I’ve listed my top ten quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.  With all of the aforementioned in mind, here is the first look at my 2021 rookie rankings.

2020 NFL Draft Winners and Losers: Tight Ends

The tight end position wasn’t nearly as heralded in the 2020 draft as it was in 2019. While that was the case, it doesn’t mean that there weren’t a couple diamonds in the wasteland. Landing spot dependence for the tight end position might be one of the most important of all the positions. Some teams just don’t utilize the position well at all, and on other teams, tight ends flourish in their systems. These are the 2020 NFL draft’s biggest winners and losers from the tight end position.

Dynasty Six Pack: 6 Rookie Sleepers to Target Late

Every season there are many consensus opinions for dynasty rookie drafts. Most of the players who are consistent contributors to your fantasy teams were at one point early picks in dynasty rookie drafts, but also every year there are players who slip through the cracks in the drafting process. These are who I project will be some of the Darius Slayton or the Preston Williams type of players who turned a few FAAB dollars into a mid second round value in trades, or locked in a spot on your roster. This article isn’t to say that you should be valuing that 6th round wide receiver who’s getting some hype in training camp (if it even happens this year) over guys like Bryan Edwards or Zack Moss. For every Darius Slayton or Preston Williams there’s many more Darwin Thompson’s who had an ADP in the 1st round of rookie drafts at one point last year which amounted to nothing. These are just some of the guys I’m targeting in the 4th or 5th round of my rookie drafts or allocating a decent amount of FAAB dollars to. I’m not necessarily saying all these guys will become fantasy relevant to the casual player sometime in the near future, but these are six guys who I’m keeping on my watch list in my leagues.

2020 NFL Draft Winners & Losers: Wide Receivers

The 2020 draft carried one of the deepest wide receiver groups in NFL history. There were thirteen taken in the first two rounds and thirty-seven total. Usually the wide receiver landing spots don’t change roster outlooks as much as other positions because teams can carry multiple successful receivers, but when this amount of talent at any position enters the league at once, there is a little bit more of a shakeup. These are the 2020 NFL draft’s biggest winners and losers from the wide receiver position.

Winners and Losers of the 2020 NFL Draft: Quarterbacks

For dynasty team owners, the NFL draft is about landing spots. It’s not just about the rookies though. The value of the players that are already on your team can change dramatically. Your quarterback’s team might get him some brand-new weapons or they might draft his replacement. A team’s number one wide receiver or running back might become their number two in the blink of an eye. The NFL draft is so much fun for us, but it can be stressful when the picks don’t go our way. Ask Packers fans about that.
